Two numbers, two different jobs
Rating measures how well you play — it decides who you're matched against. Level (Pup → Apex) measures how long and how often you've been part of the pack — it never decides matchmaking on its own. A brand-new Apex-level player and a Rating-4.5 player are two different kinds of "good."
Rating
SkillYour Rating is a number (roughly 2.5–5.5) that reflects how you actually perform in real games. It comes from two sources:
Every Self Rated number is treated as "game zero" — it converges toward your real LevelWolf Rating as you play more Rated games, adjusting more early on and less as you play more. You'll always see your current best number; there's no "calibrating" badge.
Level — Pup to Apex
JourneyLevel tracks your history with the pack — games played, wins, how long you've stuck with it. It's not a skill claim: reaching Apex means you've put in the time and games, not that you're unbeatable today.
Estimated total games ≈ Years played × Sessions/week × Games/session × 52 — that's what places a new player on the ladder at sign-up.
